Papillon Beach Huts Palolem

We've been going to stay at Papillon for over 10 years now, and its one of those places that just keeps getting better with time. Placed almost at the end of Palolem beach, Papillon provides a serenity combined with the overall active ambience the beach offers - so it's the best of both worlds. It's owned by Heaven, who is warm, attentive and so very helpful. He really does deliver a 'Heavenly' experience 😁. The staff is just as welcoming, so even if he's not present, you can be sure of being well looked after. The food is amazing as well, whether you're ordering the prawn masala or egg burji. Make sure you try the whole kingfish done Tandoori style, and Heaven's signature pizzas - it's a bit of authentic Italy right there in Goa! We stayed in the beach facing rooms which was air conditioned, spacious and very comfortable. It was lovely waking up and seeing the ocean, and sipping on a coffee on the sit-out as the sun went down. Overall, it's an awesome place to stay and wind down for a few days. Being back home, i miss it already and can't wait to plan my next trip!

Until this trip, I’d never been on a beach holiday. But after staying at the Papillon Beach Huts, I doubt I’ll ever find such sun, sand, service and satisfaction anywhere else in the world. Me and my partner were thoroughly looked after during our 3-week stay in this paradise bay. The resort owner, appropriately named Heaven, was more than accommodating - ordering tuk-tuks, dishing out advice and calling in favours to make us feel right at home in an unfamiliar destination. The waiting and reception staff were equally helpful and attentive, and we always looked forward to the delicious meals that came freshly cooked from the kitchen. Honestly, the food deserves a particular mention here. With dozens of eatery options available on Palolem Beach, you’ll be hounded all across the curve to take a seat and dine on fresh fishes, continental dishes, breakfasts, pizzas and everything in-between. All washed down with an aggressively generous cocktail that'll make walking the sandy shores a chore. We should know - we went to a lot of restaurants. But none of them were as consistently delicious as Papillon. From omeletes to ice-cream coffees, butter chicken curries to banana pancakes, grabbing an amazing bite to eat at any time of day was just an order away, and at an excellent price. The lodgings are basic enough, with fresh bedding and cleaning on request, a simple washroom, lighting, sockets, mosquito nets and fans. Most of the lodges are based behind the restaurant and away from the beach, meaning the waves shouldn't keep you up at night. Do take a pair of earplugs however, as the occasional midnight chorus of wild dogs can and will happen! Papillon is based on the far corner of Palolem, away from the bustle and boom of the central curve - and decidedly out of the limelight. Not many tourists make it to this far reach of the beach, and while that's a blessing for anyone seeking a quiet getaway, the restaurant sees far less action than it rightly deserves. With low-lighting and wicker furniture, its scaled-back aesthetic doesn't help to make it stand out in the quiet corner of the bay either. We stayed at Papillon Beach Huts at a precarious point in time, post-Thomas Cook collapse and pre-coronavirus lockdown, so the whole beach was apparently quieter than it had ever been. But after every starlit walk home through the sand and waves, we still couldn't help but feel bad for Heaven, Aki, Sunny and the rest of the boys at Papillon - whose service and commitment to customer satisfaction should be experienced by so many more than the few guests they had. But through every high-tide breakfast to low-light dinner, the boys at Papillon Beach Huts were consistently plain sailing, and we couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

My wife and I booked a weekend at Papillon in February. The folks behind the desk/bar, and Sunny our server took phenomenal care of us, giving us resort-level attention as we stored belongings, ran a tab of tasty meals and memorable mint lemonades and even borrowed money for a taxi. Everything is very reasonably priced for Palolem and our cabin/room was charming and spacious.

After reading some poor reviews,our party of 4 adults arrived a little apprehensive,we had front sea view huts that had a great outlook the rooms were as described a bed with mosquito net,bathroom with hot and cold water a fan and a/c.and they were just huts.The staff at these huts are some of the friendliest and attentive people we have met nothing was too much trouble.We stayed for 3 nights and had all our meals on the beach as we were so took up with the menu and the food.These huts are definitely on our hit list to return

The room was filthy. Way overpriced. No chance of relaxing, since they play music all day long. The sheets hadn't been washed. The bathroom was disgusting. No hot water. I wish I had taken more pics to show the conditions of the place.
