Lovely Riverside Hotel with Bathing Ghats
Sukrito Family

Ganga Nihar is situated at Vishnu Ghats. The hotel has its own bathing ghats and the ganges flows along its boundary. The Har Ki Pauri is walking distance along the river side (1km).
The rooms are clean, basic and comfortable. The staff is co-ordial and cheerful. There are tours available for Rishikesh and Haridwar which the hotel staff can arrange and you can enjoy the scenic spots.
An ideal place to relax and enjoy with your family!!!!

This hotel is very average...the rooms are very old and needs to be fixed..However the location of the hotel is good which is a plus point. The price is okay...and they can do a much better job in the service area.

It was a nice place to stay during the Kumbha Mela. The hotel is just beside the Vishnu Ghat and Ganges can be seen from the rooms. Staff was not that friendly otherwise the hotel stay was nice
Filthy & Disgusting...

Booked into this place after a reservation mix-up at another hotel and needed accommodation ASAP. The only thing this place has going for it is its location, on Vishnu Ghat, nice bathing area.
Other than that, once you step beyond the front lobby area, you are met with filthy floors and a sofa with old ripped dirty linens piled on it that never moved the entire time I stayed there, it only changed position. I suspect this is where staff got the sheets of towels they needed.
The sheets on the bed used to be white, but were now grey and had obviously not been washed in weeks. they had visible dirt on them and were ripped and had holes in several places. The bathroom was also dirty and the sink just drained onto the floor, splashing your legs. There is NO hot water and you have to request it, which takes forever. for them to bring you up and bucket of hot water. There are no towels and when I requested one, I received something that I would never let touch my body in one thousand years. It was the dirtiest, crustiest most disgusting towel I have ever seen in my life.
That night, I laid on top of a large scarf that i had brought with me to protect myself from the mattress and sheet linens and i made the mistake of laying my head on the pillow. It completely smelled of vomit!! Do NOT make the mistake of staying at this place, even if you just want a place to lay your head at night.
Pathetic room conditions

I booked a family suite in Hotel Ganga Nihar for July 14-15, 2011 through an online travel portal. When I reached there, I was a bit disappointed to see the appearance of the hotel even though it was located just next to the Ganges. Still I had a hope of good time due to its proximity to Ganges. But, the moment I entered the hotel everything unpleasant started unfolding. The moment I entered the hotel premises, there was this odour which gave me a hint of the ensuing unpleasant experience in the hotel. The floor was filthy (almost black in color). The wall appeared as if water will seep out of them anytime. No furnishing at all (not that I was expecting one). No almiras or nothing to store the bags with you. That occupies all the space in the room. We were 5 members and were cramped for space. We asked the guy to change the bedsheets as they were dirty and had black footstamps as if somebody climbed on the bed from the floor directly. To my surprise, he started insisting that these were fresh bedsheets and the bedsheets they have for replacement are as "fresh" as these one. Still we asked him to change them. The replacements were better, at least no footstamps. However, the towels were so dirty that we didnt dare to use them. On asking the hotel guy why the hotel is not well maintained, he said that if you book a room without having a look you are bound to face such situations. Not good at that point of time, but what he said was right and was a lifetime lesson. All of us went to the room from where we can see the Ganges. The room had a Neelkamal table (made of plastic) which turned black in color. There was not way of knowing its original color. Meanwhile, I had a look at the other rooms adjacent to mine. They were no better. Thank God, the bathroom was clean enough to freshen up. Finally, we took a holy dip in the Ganges and freshened up in the bathrooms and decided to leave the hotel then and there. We told the guy outrightly that we didn't like the hotel. We were surprised to see that he was least bothered about our reaction. I immediately moved on to Hotel Alakananda which was way better in terms of cleanliness, amenities, space, etc.
