It was my first visit in Kolkata and I have stay near by my office so that I have selected this hotel from OYO. After checkin when I entered in my room there was very smell of Napthalene balls. It's was all over in the wardrobe. I asked to staff to remove it asap and spray room freshener than due to inspect these balls are here it's not the good idea to remove and room freshener is not available to spray it out, you can use your deo to spray in room. Deo in room seriously!!!!
Horrible Hote & Manager at Reception Desk

Booked Hotel Blue Orchid (Opp. Technopolis at Salt Lake, Kolkata) via OYO App. & 2 rooms for 2 guests. The price was reasonably OK via App.
Reached Kolkata at 9 pm and directly checked in at hotel at 10:15 pm. The Manager at Reception Desk was highly unconvinced with our booking and started arguing about the rates. At first, they asked us to fill the form and check the rooms. The rooms on the ground floor was too smelly due to no sunlight and foul smell due to dampness in the room and bathroom. On the other hand, the one at the 3rd floor, being on the road side was full of noise due to regular vehicular movements.
However, we made our minds for stay at the 3rd floor. Now came the issue of payment for which the Manager started making several calls and meanwhile kept us waiting for nearly 45 minutes at the reception only. We called OYO Cluster Leader and OYO Call Center as well but nobody gave suitable response or could convince the Manager at the Hotel Blue Orchids. The manager was asking for more money. After several rounds of heated arguments with OYO cluster manager and customer care, we were finally asked to check in the respective rooms. The payments were finally accepted as per what we were offered via OYO App.
The nightmare continued when the hotel denied for any food as the kitchen were closed. Had they shown courtesy and asked us to moov to our room and order food, the things would have been sorted out easily. Anyway we went downstairs in a Azad Hind Dhaba for our dinner.
The next morning was another surprise for us. We ordered 2 nos., Masala Tea. We were served but both the tea was considerably cool. Even, the breakfast was also pathetic. The omlette was very small in size and not at all hot /warm. The Jam pouch was of some local company and the packet was ruptured. We had no option but to throw them. The towel given by the hotel was full of haldi stains all over. The toilet never cleaned in single flush. Even the fourth time flushing was not sufficient. The mineral water served was also from a very local company. The bed was placed in such a manner that the corner rack came over the bed. Hence, while sleeping, there was a bright chance of getting hurt or cut due to sharp edges of the rack.
The lift was unfortunately under repair and hence added to our problem only. Outside food was not at all allowed. The guard and other staff were so trained in this regard, that they will stare with X-ray vision what the guest is carrying in his hand.
Overall, it was the worst ever experience I had in all these years. Being a frequent traveler, I keep visiting many hotels across India.
OYO must seriously look into these aspects and improve your service quality.
The manager was too rude to listed to anything. It’s strictly advised not to visit this hotel for any purpose.
“atithi deveo bhava” - losing luster

Kolkata’s culture while hosting their guest is and has been always been a pride; they consider “atithi deveo bhava”. But with fast passing time is it losing its lustre? My recent trip to Kolkata is unforgettable and humiliating incident happened while staying in one hotel “Blue Orchid Corporate Inn” Kolkata;
Booked 2 rooms for 2 days, in advance in OYO 1805 “Blue Orchid Corporate Inn” Kolkata. We reached hotel late at night around 10 pm and produced our ID card was about to make the advance payment, the receptionist found the room tariff mentioned by OYO is less, so he made a call to his higher ups. I could hear the telephonic conversation between the hotel receptionist and his higher ups “NO CHECK-IN UNTIL OYO RESOLVES THIS”. We insisted the receptionist to allow us to check-in and whatever the issues are that can be resolved – he out rightly rejected our suggestion and repeated the same “YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL OYO RESOLVES THIS”. On asking what you are doing to resolve this there was no proper answer. We didn’t have any choice rather to call OYO and narrated the situation, we asked OYO person to talk to the receptionist and let us check-in as we were tired & exhausted (I was having fever) while the issue can be resolved mean while. The receptionist again rejected his plea made by the OYO person.
We have to wait at the hotel reception for 1 long hour while this was resolved, while we have made room booking in advance. My point here is if there is any disparity in room tariff then why it was not resolved with OYO beforehand as all the information was available with you.
It was total humiliation - standing late at night at the hotel reception begging for a room. After this happening I have really shocked whether in Kolkata still we have “atithi devo bhava” concept or its feeding out.
By the way, this is not over – the second day of stay - while we came back from our work and found that the lift is not working. Asked the receptionist what happened – the lift is not working? She replied with a great smile, Sir it’s under maintenance and will take atleast seven days to come in operation. Here again the question is you expect your guest to walk all through 3rd and 4th floor, there was no prior intimation to stop the lift and why you could not plan and take a consent from your guests whether they are willing to stay without the lift being in operation. So all the hotel guest has to adjust and bear to your unplanned and adhoc activities.
The breakfast was complementary, ordered a tea in the morning – I was bit confused whether I have ordered cold tea or not? Then came the breakfast (bread, butter, jam and egg omelette) – surprising the size of the egg omelette was so small – am sure they have made 3 omelettes with 2 egg, moreover, it was cold. Only 1 drinking water bottle is given complementary even if you are staying for more than 1 day – I could try to find the logic behind this.
I didn’t take any chance to order for dinner.
