I have been staying at the Kim Lawn Guest House in Kolkata India for 3 weeks now, and it has been great. The manager helped me catch a Taxi and retrieve money ffrom Western Union! I have had clean sheets, clean towels and WI-Fi! I have watching Netflix every night before falling asleep. I am in a room that cost only $10.00 a night (600 ruppees). Near by is a pharmacy, market (fruits and veggies), and dry cleaning.

The location is just fantastic, it is just opposite to Salt lake stadium. There are many restraunt around the hotel and is cheap. If you are there for a night and just want to sleep you can visit the place.

The hotel is just opposite to salt lake stadium and very near to the IT hub of Kolkata. You can get everything nearby and the price of the room is nominal. If you are here for a day or 2 and need a lodge you can opt for this.

The room that i stayed in was large and airy with ac and fans and cleaned daily. The bed was comfortable and bathroom clean. The hotel also has YHA accommodation but without the facilities. The staff on the front desk had little English and were unable to assist me. There were two other staff members that had good English and they were very helpful but they worn't there often. No maps of local area or of Kolkata, no brochures and a distance from the city centre. I took me 3 days to work out the transport into the city. Maybe good for locals but not overseas visitors.

I booked this hotel seeing a decent room rate and good reviews. I laud the hotel staff for giving me stinging experiences one after another. To start with if you are arriving in hotel before 7 am you will find hotel shutter closed and no one answering your frantic phone calls. Property is in a state of despair, fishy smell, dirty linen, cheapest cutlery, bathroom leaking and pieces of cloth make up for broken window panes. Walls are crazy thin with strange placement of common bathroom. Do not expect service post 10.30 pm. You cannot even get bottled water!!! The staff is pathetic, especially managers with bucket load of attitude and are NOT Accommodating. If ordering room service then you pay each time instead of charging to the room. Restaurant of hotel is the saddest I experienced at the hotel. Its inconvenient as you have to carry cash always. If you are accustomed to professional service and and well kept property then its a must avoid. In spite of all the vices the USP of property is the location. You get cabs easily at any time and landmark salt lake stadium helps a lot. Property thankfully accepts card during final settlement.
