The Ramgarh Bungalows

This charming little property has loads of old world charm. This was our second stay, the first one was in 2018 in Writer's Bunglow and the latest one was in Dec 2021. The food, staff (especially Anand Ji and Sandeep ji and the rest of the restaurant staff) soil you silly with delicious preprations. Mr Shailendra (Property Manager) is very friendly and hours out of his way to make your trip memorable and comfortable! Would definitely recommend staying here for a minimum of 3 nights. Cliff House, Writer's Bunglow & Ashok Vatika, all have great views!

We stayed for 5 nights and we were four of us from a family, two adults and two children. This was one of our best trips to the hills with the children. We have decided that whenever we we want the peace & quiet and just relax and unwind, this is the place for us and we will lot consider any other place! The scenery, the views around us at our cottage, the weather, the service, the food, everything was just perfect! We stayed in the Blue room in Ashok Vatika. We have stayed at the Writer’s Bungalows years ago. We found the views from Ashok Vatika the best and you are surrounded by mountains. The Blue room is the room where you can see the sunrise from the bed. The Green room is for sunsets. You can stay anywhere in Ashok Vatika and the outside sitting arrangements will help you with the views all day long. One can just look at the mountains the whole day. We enjoyed our meals in the open especially breakfasts. The views are mesmerising and I am really missing the views after coming back to the city. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. The washroom was spacious and clean. They gave us fresh towels for all of us each day. The staff needs a special mention. Rajdeep, Puran, Basant, Sandeep at Ashok Vatika, Sanjay Singh, Shailendra the Manager at the Old Bungalows and the chefs are the most helpful staff members you will come across. They even helped procure walnuts and some local vegetables for us when we were leaving to help us taste specialities from the Kumaon region. They also informed us of the Bollywood film shoot that culminated in the previous month and it was shot primarily in Ashok Vatika 😊. Looking forward to this movie which releases in 2022. We bought lots of jams and their plum chutney. Do try it. They have their own jam factory at the Old Bungalows. Children liked it. We went to Ramgarh Talla, did the river trek on one of the days and it was fun. We took a cab back as didn’t have it in us to climb back for 3kms plus on the uphill path all the way. The scenery during the trek and the views are amazing and would highly recommend it. The river is nothing special but the trek is nice. The hotel also recommends a trek to a temple which we have done in the previous visit. That’s a strenuous one as well if you’re not used to walking uphill. We had two lunches at the Old Bungalows and it was fun and a change for us. We walked from Ashok Vatika to the Old Bungalows. The children found a cat here and that was another reason to visit this part of the property again. The Old Bungalows are the main hub where the main course is prepared and sent to their other properties. A small functional kitchen makes basics like chapatis at Writers Bungalows and Ashok Vatika and they bake lovely goodies too. We really enjoyed the evening tea, hot chocolate with pakoras and home baked cookies every day. The buns that they serve with pastas are fresh. The food is very nice here. If you would like to rent motor bikes for your stay, do check with the staff. They can help you with this too. I would recommend this magical place to all and we would surely come back. We have chosen a room also for the next time 😊. Thanks to all the staff and Neemrana for a prefect stay! The children didn’t want to leave and that’s a great testimonial for an unforgettable holiday 😊

We have stayed at Ramgarh Bungalows in the past as well. However, this experience was totally unique. We were in Talla Ramgarh (staying at a different place) when a torrential downpour began on the evening of 17 October 2021. It went on to rain for more than 45 hours on the trot. Eventually, this led to massive landslides and destruction in not just the Ramgarh belt but also large parts of Uttarakhand. We were stuck in Talla Ramgarh for five days—all of them without electricity. We tried to find a way out every day. However, we didn't make much headway. On the fifth day, we trekked four kilometres uphill to the Ramgarh Bungalows at Malla Ramgarh to find out if the roads were motorable, And, more importantly, if we (three families with children) would be provided with accommodation. There we met Shailendra, the property manager, who told us that the road conditions were slightly better in his area and assured us that he would provide us with accommodation. The next day, we left our cars and most of our luggage behind at Talla Ramgarh (since the roads weren't motorable) and trekked up to Ramgarh Bungalows, again, with our families. Shailendra not only provided us with warm hospitality but also allayed our fears about travelling back home the next day. He checked with the local people to ensure that we took the best route possible to reach Haldwani. His entire team took very good care of our families and made us feel at home. The rooms were done well (as is usual here) and the food was sumptuous and hearty. Albeit for one night, it was good to be back at Ramgarh Bungalows, which is managed by such fantastic people as Shailendra. We shall be back soon! PS: We went back a week later to fetch our cars and again stayed at Ramgarh Bungalows for that night.

I just visited this place few facts I want to share about this property You have to travel either via Bhimtal or via Bhawali to reach this property. When you reach Ramgarh Mallah you will find a cut at the left hand side which will take you towards this property,its around 5km drive down from there. Property is isolated no doubt in that ,there are two very small markets where you will get only basic groceries 1) Talla Ramgarh 8kms down from this property ( here you have 1 english liquor shop but no big resturant) 2) Mallah Ramgarh 5 kms up from the bunglows here you have two small dhaba also This is about the location let's talk about the property These are three different properties spread within 600 metres but they are separate from each other. While going towards the old bungalows you will get to see the first Ashok Vatika which are sets of room, after that Writers Bunglow and in the last you will get the old bunglows. The old bungalows are not a big property like you found in bungalows are matching Neemrana standard they provided the electric heating beds, Rooms are bigger in size , well maintained and good interiors. Staff is also well managed, well manner specially the manager Mr Deepak very humble and polite person even I called up many times while we were driving to ensure we are following the right path. Overall I will say don't go with big expectations like you found with other Neemrana properties because this property is not big you don't have much more things to do or to roam around but very good for relax for a day only.

We checked in on 17th October in the old dak bungalow. As luck would have it got stuck in these horrendous rains and confined to room and would continue to be so for next two days. However the place and the facilities here are just bare minimum which certainly don’t justify the tariffs you pay. No electricity for the whole day in the cottage whereas offices were lit. On being insistent electricity restored in 5 minutes with an already existent generator which they didn’t want to switch on. The only place to spend the day in confinement is to sit in the verandah and maybe enjoy the rains but the pic attached would clearly show the housekeeping with possibly all the chairs and tables that the property has being dumped in the verandah as if it is a store. Our first experience at Neemrana and probably the last.
