Centaur Hotel

We were travelling with our 2 year old daughter in the winter time of December AND in the Covid times. So naturally we were worried about our safety, general hygiene of the place we stay in and room heating facilities. Despite the mix reviews, we decided to give Centaur a try, primarily for the location. We were in for a surprise.. the hotel exceeded our expectations. They REALLY took care of us. The hotel, although old and under-maintained has the old school rustich charm to it It is huge and adorned with beautiful Kashmiri handicrafts. Food is decent too. Staff is very courteous and polite. And about the safety, it is inside the SKICC conference centre which is heavily guarded by the army- be rest assured of staying in one of the safest hotels in Srinagar. We initially stayed a night before moving for Gulmarg & Pahalgam but decided to come back to the same room upon our return to Srinagar. I highly recommend this hotel if you would love to take a stroll around the Dal Lake on a quiet evening; and maybe a nap in the beautiful garden from where you see the lotuses blooming.

Hotel would have seen glorious times . Massive area , huge lobby just like the set of movies of 70s . Present situation Run by Air india , rooms in new block are spacious & good . Maintenance of bathrooms & in general is needed big time . Food average but good for one time . Staff though aged is polite & accommodating Review 1/5 Recommend Definitely not for holiday

As most of the other reviewers have said, the hotel is in a pathetic state these days. It is completely deserted and is used only or mainly by Air India. It may have been a great choice in the past for that matter the huge reception looks exactly like those hotels that one can see in the 80's movies. However due to utter mismanagement and lack of any funding what-so-ever the hotel is in shambles. The staff is helpful but have limited means. We had to stay here as our Air India flight got delayed and the airline hosted us here. We arrived at midnight, the hotel staff was cooperative enough to arrange some refreshments for us even at that hour. As for the room, I found it to be small and dingy. The bathroom needs an immediate renovation. My advice is not to go to this hotel unless you don't have any other option.

Remembered it used to be a top notch hotel close to delhi airport back in 80s till 90s and conviniet to took a 2 am flight. But sadley it went down to thetoilet stinky drain now. dirty bed sheet one should look the mattresses its has dry semen and blood stains . Some older staff still working from day one it has the same slow death endind same as mismanagement of air india.

Reception staff very pathetic....i called for inquiry about hotel room but receptionist was very uncomfortable they are not agree to tell anything.....? Regard Javed Ahamad Restaurant Manager Bangalore
