Grandeur At Its Best

This is a palace with a rich history showcased so beautifully. Every inch of this place is carefully preserved for guests like us to sink into its grandness. Woodville palace is not a hotel, is not a resort. Its an grand abode where one feels being a part of history. Humble rooms, amazing in-house restaurant, very polite management, delicious food, architecture like none other.
Heritage property amongst lawns and green

We stayed for two nights in the Imperial room at this property. What we liked? The large gardens and car parking space, difficult to come across in Simla, the quiet, the ambience, comfort, food, courteous service and the fact that while the property is in a serene part of Simla, it is a comfortable 15-25 mins walk to the beginning of the Mall. It was a walk we enjoyed. While at Woodville, spend time in the Hollywood bar and the Tiger lounge before you dine. The corridors across floors are full of sepia and colour pictures that transport you to the past. The Garden restaurant is a glass house on a lower level lawn. It looks beautiful but we were told it opens for service only during the tourist season. May might be a good time to visit again.

We were there in December for two nights, Hotel surrounding is very nice and very cold. The room set up is nice. furnitures are quiet old, need some renovations. But in total stay was pleasant and enjoyable. Due to low occupancy breakfast was very limited choice. Dinner or Lunch was very delicious. Wifi also has a limited access only in reception area. Later they provided a wifi dongle to use.
Could be fabulous

What a very warm welcome we got, the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The food in the evening was excellent. But...the whole place was incredibly shabby and run down. The shower was primitive and very difficult to use, the furnishings were very outdated and worn. The corridor was freezing and smelt strongly of kerosine. The WiFi barely worked in the hall/reception.
The Garden and location were perfect, just out of the bustle of town but walkable.
Such a shame that it has been allowed to deteriorate to this state as it could be the most wonderful Heritage hotel, also, I felt sorry for the staff who were doing their best.
Very faded grandeur

The hotel needs a major injection of cash to bring it up to standard and it could be beautiful.
The room was a reasonable size but the decoration and furniture was shabby. The bathroom too needed attention - my shower wouldn’t shower it only worked from the tap and the water temperature was hard to control as it worked off an individual water heater.
The public spaces were very cold and the wifi barely worked except in the reception. Food was OK.
It is a shame because all the staff are very friendly and helpful and doing their best with what they have.
