  • The ultimate coffee plantation and heritage boutique experience !

Old Kent Estate is one of those boutique hotels whose heritage charm and quaint ambience truly makes it feel like a home away from home! The cottage style rooms are huge with a relaxing sitting area and a beautiful four poster bed. If you are a lover of antique furniture you will enjoy the select pieces in every room from the sofa to the little writing desk. The bathrooms are huge and well maintained with a separate shower and stone bathtub along with and a unique foot basin spa. The hotel is also a treat for the bookworm in you as it has a huge library in the main lodge. Mr. Sampat, the extremely knowledgeable manager and coffee expert took us for a walk in the large and thickly forested plantation amistd which the hotel is situated. The platation provides walking trails of varying intensities depending on your choice and is a great way to spend the evening. Lastly the food at Old Kent is a treat for anyone who wants a superior gastronomic experience with a large menu. The chef did a great job with the fresh vegetables and spices from the surrounding area excelling in both local and western cuisine. The breakfast was also of great quality and variety. All the staff and servers were extremely hospitable and courteous. All in all Old Kent is a must stay in Coorg if one wants the authentic plantation experience!

Old Kent Estate is one of the top twelve destinations in Coorg. The place is quiet, serene and comfortable. The eight cottages are quite luxurious and spacious. The bed is comfortable and there is enough sitting area around. The bathroom is huge with a seperate area for pedicure and tub. The lodge has a well equipped library, a mini theatre and board games. The Perch serves breakfast and dinner. Chef Susheel Srivastav dishes out great cuisine. He served us stuffed 'Litthi Chokha'- a specialty of Bihar, which was really delicious. The menu is planned well every night. The breakfast is also quite sumptuous and caters to different palates . There are South Indian dishes, paranthas, waffles, French toast etc etc. Snacks are served throigh out the day. We had different pakoras and pastas which were good. Over all the property is lovely amidst a huge forest and coffee estate. The walking trail guided by Mr Sampath Kumar is very interesting and informative. The staff is very efficient and helpful. Overall a great experience.

Vast estate land. Strong aromatic coffee. Traditional estate cabins with beautiful bathroom space This place has limited guest cabins (rooms) which makes you feel exclusively attended to by the property staff members You will be handed a phone at check in, which is the saviour to anything and everything. To have your butler on speed dial one person contact for everything. Food. Activities. Housekeeping. Check out you ask for it. We were delighted by their honest and humble hospitality. The sight and nature from the estate is to be experienced for the stability of mind between our chaotic lifestyles. We as a couple were also extended a complimentary romantic dinner by the management to celebrate our wedding. You MUST fry the complimentary shared activities at the estate such as coffee and estate tour, simply beautiful guided walk around the lands with such history and nature. The main building at the estate also has pool table and private movie theatre set up for some indoor fun. Only recommend the estate management to improvise on the Food and beverage options as there were very limited menu options for those staying over a week and globally traveled guests.
  • Lovely cottages. But.....!!

Pros - Lavish and very spacious cottages with either bath tubs or Jacuzzi and private garden area. Cons - Don't opt for jacuzzi cottage as they don't have hot water for the jacuzzi. Very strange indeed - Beware taking your sedans here. Atleast 1km bumpy drive Everything you need to know - If your heading to Coorg for the tourism it has to offer and not too worried about the scenic beauty of what your resort has to offer this is a great place to stay. Scenic beauty is personal to me. The stunning views of valleys, tea estates is not something that this coffee estate would offer. You will love the cottages experiencing a larger than life feel. The estate is home to hundreds of bird species taking you totally away from the city life's hustle bustle. Food is good but not sumptuous as such. - Cottages are awesome. A seperate lounge area, seperate bed area, a private garden and huge bathroom with bath tub. The room also has a glass view of the estate. But please do not opt for the jacuzzi room. You will not get hot water to enjoy this facility. The heater is the same for the bathroom and the jacuzzi hence by the time the jacuzzi fills up the water is almost like room temperature - The food cuisine is good and simplistic. If your a North Indian don't expect Tandoori naan, butter naan or chicken tikka. If your looking for Coorg cuisines, even Neer Dosa is not there for serving. Which clearly indicates what I mean by the food not being sumptuous. Overall, given that the accomodation is pretty expensive and not budget friendly as such which is the case across Coorg unless you opt for a decent homestay, the resort has to offer the following for better experience - - Include all meals. Not just breakfast and dinner. - Include hi-tea and evening snacks - Please do something about the jacuzzi. Either offer it with what is expected of it or don't provide it at all or least inform the guest about this. I can't end without mentioning that the hospitality by the staff was fantastic!!
  • Rooms smell like piss but look beautiful

One probably a well managed place, this property is now a poor managed, unhygienic hotel with a view. The property is beautiful and old. The cottages and the main building look quaint and beautiful! The surroundings are green and you can hear the many famed birds of Coorg. The toilets and bath products are amazing too. At first this place looks great! And then you realise the smell of piss that haunts every room, the dirty, stained and torn sheets, the generations of lizards, spiders and other creepy crawlies that call the interiors of the cottages their home and now also want to call your clothes and baggage your home. The staff of the place is nice but incredibly slow and take their own time to get things done. The food is fantastic, though it’s a set menu you can often request for certain dishes ahead of time. But because of said slow staff, it will take you about an 45 mins to get your food from when you order. The coffee from this plantation is a must buy! Famed in all of Coorg apparently. Tldr: This place was probably once a jewel but now is a rusting, smelly, unhygienic and crawling with bugs. Only the food and coffee were great. It needs some firm management and deep clean to make it worth your money.
