Out of all 4 resorts under hill dale group, i would prefer for silent valley cottage to stay with a group of friends and enjoy the scenic view and admire the beauty of nature. The rooms stands perfect for a homestay ambience. Only suggestion is to take a private car or to rent a car during the period of stay as it is located on a hill top almost a place away from crowd and noise. I had no doubt on safety as there were enough persons to take care. Anytime service on call is available.

I spent a day and half there along with my school buddies. It's a great place, set in a veradant valley. Jayanna & Bindu are great hosts and fantastic food as well. I would certainly want to go there again. Manjunath Bangalore

As the name suggests, this is really a silent valley cottage. Since we reached the place in the evening, we were in fact very scared first since the road was literally not there and it was absolute darkness, the person in charge was helpful and this place is clean, however the manager was not very friendly. If you are taking kids, check you room twice for spiders and insects. Morning view was very nice and not as spooky as the night seemed/
  • Absolutely overrated and misleading....IT'S NOT A HOMESTAY!

First of all, we booked this place on another website where it is called Madikeri View. When we reached there we realised that it's called Silent Valley and not Madikeri View! You start doubting the place right at the onset. Room and facilities: When a place is called a homestay you expect a sort of personal touch to your stay with personalised service; both were absolutely missing. These are not cottages but rooms in a very ordinary building. The room given to us was sparse...no decoration, no comfortable furniture, no character at all. There was a small fan mounted on the wall which barely covered the bed. It was quite hot in June and the absence of a proper ceiling fan made our stay quite uncomfortable. The bedsheet had stains. There were no towels or soaps in the bathroom and when we asked for it we were told they were being dried at the river. Mind you, the place wasn't fully occupied and still they didn't have towels ready for the two guests who checked in 4 hours late. We didn't mind that there was no television or room service available, but there was no wifi available and unfortunately BSNL is the only network that has some connectivity. So you are completely cut off from the world. There is a geyser in the bathroom and we were told they have power back up - the only 2 positives in the room and facilities. There is no tea/coffee maker in the room. For the 3000 rupees that they charged, the place isn't decent enough. Sure, the surroundings are great with lush green coffee plantations just a few steps away, but the room itself was pathetic, dingy and gloomy. There are a few swings around the property, if you call it kid's activities. Food: Homestay word also makes you think of homemade, local delicacies. Nope. The rooms are in the midst of a coffee plantation but you are not offered filter coffee, you get Nescafe! They don't have cooking facilities on the premise, instead they bring the breakfast from one of their other hotels in the Madikeri town 8km away. So the breakfast served the next day morning was cold and tasteless. There were only two items served, which would have been sufficient had they been tasty and freshly made. For lunch and dinner you are given the menu of the same restaurant and you need to order 2-3 hours in advance. Again, you don't have much choice from the menu - it's either biryani or North Indian roti-sabji. We wanted something light like a sandwich but that was not available. On our second morning there we were the only guests and we insisted on getting aloo paratha for breakfast and they obliged. There was just one item and not very tasty but at least it was served hot in a hotpot. If you don't have your own vehicle and depend 100% on them for food, you may have to go to bed hungry. The only saving points for this place are the big verandah with a sit out overlooking the green and serene coffee plantation and the caretaker Chandu. In his limited capacity Chandu tried to make our stay comfortable. He works hard and can't be blamed for the lack of facilities in the place. He went out of his way to help us with things within his control. The verandah has an amazing view and the bird songs are a welcome relief from the city noise, but you can't spend a long time at the property as there are no comfortable chairs where you can enjoy the surroundings. The owner is nowhere to be seen and the whole 'homestay' experience is completely missing. Probably the owner is not interested in improving the facilities because he gets money from many gullible travelers who call this place appealing and write misleading reviews. I would personally not recommend this place to stay.

Hello Team, It was my mother's birthday on 14th August so we had plan to celebrate it in Coorg. I had booked Silent Valley Cottages, Coorg, Karnataka, India (separate cottage having common drawing room, 2 bedrooms), for 2 nights From August 13, 2017 to August 15, 2017 on 22 July 2017. For that I had paid Rs. 19,842/- (Rs. 4960/- per room per night) via credit card. On 24 July 2017 I got call from the cleartrip saying that due to some last minute changes in hotel's room availability/occupancy and over stay of some of their customers, rooms will not be available. They had made alternate arrangements for our stay for 1st night , i.e.13th Aug 2017 to 14th Aug 2017, at Deluxe Room of Hotel Crystal Court (belongs to same owner of Silent Valley). For this alternate arrangement they refunded Rs. 2000/-, hence it cost us Rs. 3960/- per room per night at Hotel Crystal Court. My trouble start On 13th August 2017 when I checked in to Hotel Crystal Court, Coorg at around 6.00 p.m., I confirmed to the manager at reception that the next day I will have a stay at Silent Valley Cottages, Coorg, Karnataka, India (separate cottage having common drawing room and 2 bedrooms). The rooms they provided me for Rs. 3960/- per room per night was not worth. It was not like hotel but it was like dharamshala room or guest house room, that would not cost even Rs. 2000/- per room. But I was not having any option as it was difficult for me to find any other hotel or resort because of holiday rush. So I had to stay at that hotel for that night. The room was not having any services for what I paid around Rs 4000/- per room. There was bad smell in the blankets, bathroom was not having proper facility and very stinky. The tap and shower was not working properly. The food was also of not proper quality, though we had taken MAP plan. We spend the night over there assuming at least we will have good stay at Silent valley cottage next day. At morning around 7.15 I went to reception assuming that the breakfast will be ready but to the surprise the person told me that breakfast will be ready by 8.30. This was the first hotel I have seen in my life saying breakfast will be ready by 8.30. So I checked out from the hotel at the moment because I had to cover tourist places of Coorg and there were no reason to wait for 1 more hour for breakfast (which was even worth waiting). After the whole day tour in Madikeri, coorg I set my destination Silent Valley Cottages in my Google map. It was 18kms from Madikeri city near Suntikoppa. At around 7.30 p.m. I start my car for the destination. There was nothing at the place shown in Google Map. It was like jungle and no one was to guide you. Even network was not there. I tried calling at hotel and my family (including me, my wife, my father, my mother & my son) were scare. So I decided to go back to some safe place from where I can call at cottage. I came back to Suntikoppa 4 kms far away from my destination. From there I made a call to cottage and he suggested me to come near Cinchona Estate and I started my car towards Cinchona Estate and I drive towards Madikeri. On the way I didn't find any Cinchona Estate and I reach direct to Madikeri. So I decide to go back to Hotel Crystal Court and get the route. Manager also suggested me to take turn from Cinchona estate after IBNIL resort. I asked him about the Cottage board or any landmark near the cottage. I was surprise to hear that there was no board for the cottage from the main road. So I went to the same route again. After passing the IBNIL resort, me and my family started searching for the board of Cinchona estate. After half kilometer I found a road having slope. At that junction there was a board of Cinchona estate that was nowhere visible from the main road and even that board was not having any light. From there I called to cottage guy again and he suggested me to come forward to the same way. I asked him whether there is any board or not. Surprisingly he repled me that there is no board of cottage the only landmark was the lighting bulb outside the cottage. After 2 hrs of searching in the jungle for the cottage at 9.30 I reached to my destination. There were only 2 guys who were handling the cottage. Now my problem is that Instead of providing me Cottage as per my booking they provided me 2 rooms. There were no reason to argue with that guys as it was already late and my family was tired. So at around 10.00 we had dinner and celebrated my mom's birthday. Me and my family was very upset as there was nothing as we had planned. Cleartrip booking and the Hotel experience had totally ruined our mood. But the trouble did not stop here. Next morning when we went for breakfast they asked us to wait for 10.30a.m. Can you believe breakfast at 10.30a.m. in any hotel stay? Caretaker told us that the breakfast comes from the hotel in Madikeri, 6kms far away from Cottages. You can image what will be the condition of the breakfast after 6kms journey and this was even not enough to trouble and the caretaker comes to me while checking out and asked me for Rs. 120 saying it is for the Water bottle they had given in the room while my stay at Hotel Crystal Court. I paid around Rs 4000 for the Guest house room and they are charging me Rs 120 for the water that should be complimentary in hotels. Is the hotel supported by Cleartrip ? I must say that this is not the fault of hotels or managements but this is the fault of Cleartrip's only. You should visit the place once before you promote them on your site. I totally blame the Cleartrip for this bad and trouble some experience for spoiling our valuable time for my mother's birthday. I will think if I am going to use Cleartrip ever. One more thing to mention is that I called the Cleartrip on 15th August' 2017 for the issues and was told that their team will answer after looking in to the issue, but still no one has responded from their side. Expecting your positive disposal in this matter with in reasonable time.
