Le Ben, the Garden Restaurant, RoofTop Bar
SandraC59 Friends getaway
Dec 05,2019
Spent 10 days at LeBen after travelling around South India and Sri Lanka. I had been a guest at LeBen six years ago and enjoyed an enjoyable 2 weeks stay. Le Ben is a unique hotel, with very friendly staff, a mention to Anita the receptionist who is very efficient and friendly, arranges taxis etc and can advise on local services such as ATM, Money Xchange, mobile SIM card etc. The room was air conditioned, had a balcony, plenty of hot water and very good size with a comfortable king sized bed. There was a free supply of water and the establishment has a generator if electricity fails. The Garden Restaurant is ‘the’ place to eat in Colva, run by the son and daughter in law of the owner of LeBen. The changes to restaurant in the six years ( son had just begun establishing the Garden Restaurant then) was incredible, professional serving staff, efficient kitchen, and superb choices on menu. You can even ask for special sea food a day previous to your meal... we had tuna, kingfish, barracuda, sea bass, shark, all discussed with Lionel the owner the day prior. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and evening meal, it is licensed and serves some wonderful Indian wines. The rooftop gar has a great view of busy shops and roads of Colva, great place for a pre drink before eating.
This little hotel is a gem, costs about $40 aud per night, if your going to Colva it is an ideal place to rest, eat and recuperate!
Good hotel at nice location

Stayed in La Ben for Goa trip with friends in second week of September 2019.
As we were to arrive and depart by train we wanted to stay nearby a beach which is close to Madgaon Railway station.
The resort caught our attention due to its location and the price. It is located very close to Colva Beach which infact could be considered a beach almost equidistant if you want to cover Baga/Calungate (North Goa) and Palolem (South Goa) beaches.
In room facilities:
The hotel room had RO water (what we thought was they would give mineral water but they said RO water is free and packaged water is chargeable)
TV with dish connection.
Extension - which didn’t work throught our stay.
Attached balcony which claimed to have garden view - but friends garden is the name of their Garden restaurant and balcony has view of Garden Restaurant roof!
Bathroom had Towels & Shower gel. Doormat in front of attached bathroom was provided on the second day.
Dust bin (without dust bin polythene inside).
Here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
The resort is dirt cheap. You cannot imagine a/c rooms for this rate anywhere.
The resort is close to Colva Beach.
Nearby restaurants, markets, church.
Cons:
For this price do no expect gym/swimming pool etc facilities which usually the resort have.
The extension didn’t work throughout our stay.
If the management charged us 50 rupees extra and provided us 10 rupees paste with 20 rupees brush we wouldn’t have minded.
The geyser switch couldn’t be turned off so I had to use hot water. While speaking at reception the person suggested to use hot water from the shower to fill the bucket and then take cold water from the tap to mix it as per our comfort. They were ready to shift us to different room but we didn’t consider it as a major problem.
Overall it was a 4 star experience for the price we paid. The management was polite and helpful. They apologised for the extension and geyser issue.
Advice to management:
1. Please clarify the garden view rooms have view of the Garden Restaurant’s rooftop!
2. Please also clarify that the packaged water is chargeable and you provide RO water
3. Please provide dental kit and towel could be bigger 😬

We have been to this place once. Very much perfect for middle-class Indian family but you have to done your room booking quite in advance. Restaurant food is of good quality. Beach is very nearby. Lots of options available shopping and hangout around the resort.
