Hotel Solitaire

We missed our connecting flight so came out of the airport as our next flight was in 9 hours. Hotels are all expensive in Mumbai we managed to find this one about 20 mins in traffic from the airport. We checked in at lunch and went to sleep for 3 hours then freshened up for our trip back to airport. The WiFi connection is rubbish you have to sit outside on the stairs to get signal or go to the reception and yes it’s intermittent. The bathroom is budget, a bit dark but okay for one night, beds are firm but comfortable. Room is clean and has a/c. We ate in the restaurant and it was alright, maybe a little slow but tasted good. The reception downstairs is inviting with fresh flowers, and rooms are fairly large. Rooms would be better if you could get WiFi which is s must nowadays. For a 6 hour stopover at around £55 including our lunch was okay because we mainly slept before a flight. The hotel wasn’t noisy but lots of traffic outside. The driver from the hotel charged us double what it would normally cost which was a bit of a rip off.

An avg. hotel at average price. Is OK for transit. A very old looking interiors with strange smell. Only + is distance from Terminal 2 (Hardly 5-10 mins drive). Food quality is average, breakfast starts quite late 7 am strange considering most people stay here for airport transit and need to start early. I had early start and requested for some small early morning breakfast which was neglected and I had to leave without any breakfast.

The menu is standard, similar to all other ordinary restaurants.The hotel is close to T2 about 2 KM and 10-15 minutes drive depending upon time of day.Hotel seems to have seen better days although the tariff seems to have kept up with the times. The way to the restaurant is up a flight of dingy stairs. Had a hard time locating the restaurant within the hotel. Visit if you have no other option. For casual meals I would recommend Cafe New Sahar which is 400m down the sahar road towards T2, which serves better prepared food and is less heavy on the wallet.

The good part: Pretty close to the airport so ok for transit The bad part: The rooms are not fresh. Smell of fungus welcomes you at first instance No proper wifi Cost does not match with the quality Hotel Management: The place needs renovation & a lot to work upon the reception as well. The quality of hotel tells that the occupancy is low. You should use the proximity to the airport as your plus point & updgrade your rooms to get some business

Not recommended Hotel. Cost is above average but the quality if service and food is absolutely pathetic. If you are fond of No veg then have nightmare in ordered something in this hotel. Only good thing is nearer to International Airport
