Kabini Red Earth is a place where you can lose yourself!
The property located by the Kabini Backwaters has been developed over the past ten years. The lucious fruit bearing trees and flowering plants all over the property are a treat to the eyes and the soul and is a testimony to the labour of love of the property owners.
We travelled with children and there was never a dull moment with the various activities the property offered!!! (climbing the 150 year old beautiful mango tree, farm animal feeding, play area, swimming, fishing or just lazing on the hammock).
Evening tea by the backwaters is definitely a highlight. A walk by the serene backwaters together with the beautiful views is definitely not to be missed.
The rooms are very well maintained and also ensures privacy. We opted for the lunch/dinner buffets. Food is excellent with many delicious options of local fare as well.
A special mention to the property owners (Rachael, Ravi and Aditya). Thankyou for the warmth and the wonderful hospitality!
We look forward to visit Kabini Red Earth soon!
Eco friendly resort that has got it just right!!

We checked in for a 5 night 6 day (including New Years Eve) into Red Earth Kabini on 27h Dec. Having stayed in US for 16 years and vacationed in many an exotic destinations, Red Earth Kabini stands out for many reasons. First they stay true to their sustainable claims - recycled waste water, solar energy, locally procured food, 98% local staff. Kids loved it with so much to do - boat rides, nature walk, swimming, play park, board games, kids books, evening snacks, magic shows, wild life documentaries and chance to feed the animals. Cottages are so brilliantly designed and spaced for privacy - each just a stone throw away from Kabini river. There are only 21 cottages so the place never feels too crowded even at full capacity. Location is ideal from Kabini Tiger Reserve, Elephant Camp, Jerry Martin conservatory, coracle rides - for the nature enthusiasts. Buffet spread was consistently good on each of the 5 days - with a wide assortment to serve each palate - North Indian, South India, Non Veg (including sea food), Kids menu, in house bakery and continental. Sun set on Kabini from "Wonkey Monkey" while having tea is a must do. What makes this place special is the friendly local staff and the personalized care from owners Ravi, Rachel and Aditya. Their personal touch in every corner of the property makes this property a work of art and not just a holiday destination. Highly recommend to all those looking for a family vacation or official retreat for all those looking to escape to the woods yet not too far away from the city.
Memorable stay

One of the best resort for family stay. Food quality, especially the veggie is unbeatable. Need improvement in breakfast and non veg options.
Well behaved Staff are the real back bone of this property.
Reservation staff needs a bit of training and represent the class of Red Earth.
Disappointing !!!

There are wild life focussed resort properties which are well packaged and there are resort properties which are well managed. Sadly Red Earth Kabini falls in the former category; Good branding with less substance. It is a beautiful property with great foliage and green space, rustic and nice location. However the sad downside– it’s very poorly managed. Or I am not sure if someone is managing it at all. It was with great expectations that we booked Red Earth Kabini for a visit this spring break and I write this review after our first day here; Disappointingly the experience is below average so far on all fronts. As a regular visitor to Kabini it’s the first time we are staying here, somewhere reinstatement of our belief that on off beat locations it’s best to stay in more established and better managed / rated properties. Red earth fails to deliver on several fronts which are the basics of hospitality industry. F&B is below average. Food on the buffet is often not replenished or is average and undercooked. When you ask for things they are short of staff and basic things take more then reasonably acceptable time , there seems to be severe lack of coordination between the F&B team and kitchen. The restaurant staff though courteous are evidently pretty lost and highly confused and it’s not their fault. Coming to the rooms – the quality of beds and linen is quite run down and cries for renovation. Toilet wasnt well sanitised before hand. The mattress are totally gone / pillows / bed linen are old and severely worn out. You can see effects of lack of proper proactive maintenance / upgrade evidently visible. Also Be prepared to be indifferently bumped off from your jungle safari as they have only one jeep and inspite of prior confirmation they do such things to perhaps accommodate larger groups for better revenue ; and this rather unprofessionally and insensitively; This stance the concerned team after bumping us off , threw up their hands in this air without any regrets or constructive efforts; three of us were conveniently knocked off from a morning safari, to accommodate a larger group personally known to the owners. On asking we were told you can go and take on a trip on a jungle lodges group canter if you wish. In other words - go take a hike.. The children felt bad on such treatment , we then opted for a boat safari; nevertheless Red earth is rustic property and sits at a good location . Would I come back again, I am doubtful. Not atleast till they choose to bring some professionalism in the property and dealing with guests, sort out the most basics. Will also genuinely refrain from recommending it to other travellers due to above points . Try and choose better.

I am sharing my experience with this resort in Kabini , I just had been to this resort on 10th & 11th April.I really felt displeasure on certain things
-->Really Not worth for money
-->Evening snacks were very pathetic
--> Intermittent power issues very frequently through out the stay
-->No physical activities
--> Landphone does not work
-->Lady Owner's "cheap" attitude
--> Boating and Spa not part of package
--> Food especially starters limited options
--> No Icecreams for desert
--> AC issues(Intermittently gets off)
If you are looking for spending time with engaging activities and this resort is not the one you should look for ..
Very Expensive and Intermittent power issue make your stay in the resort miserable..
When we approached the lady owner to provide a feedback on the facilities and asked for complimentary you know what was her response she said she feels "cheap" when some one asks for a complementary ..You spend close to 20k and you do not get worth of it , there is no harm or wrong asking for a complementary spa or boat ride..Lady Owner was rude and mentioned it feels cheap to her...As a customer we would want to value for the money spent there is nothing wrong is asking for it , she could have mentioned softly that they dont offer complimentary gently rather than making a rude comments ...
I would also like to highlight few positives
-- Excellent Staff
--Locality Backwaters
Overall I personally feel this resort is not worth if you are looking for ...
