The food, wine and service were all excellent at a very reasonable price. I would certainly recommend the Gran Parilla if you are in the area
No mis-steak, this is great steak!

24FEB2020: I had just arrived in fabulous Buenos Aires and was extremely pleased to have arrived with ample daylight, an excellent google map on my 8+, and helpful directions from the Buenos Aireans, especially the city bus driver. (How can anybody NOT like a driver who hydraulically lowers the bus to the curb so I can easily step aboard??!!) After making myself at home in one of the most popular hostels in BA, I inquired about a possible meal.
Following the easy directions, I ALMOST passed up this amazing steakhouse. Caught in a vortex of indecision, I chose to stay, finding a small sidewalk table & chair, partly reasoning that not too many people will be offended by the stench emanating from my T-shirt. The waiter promptly brought me a menu, followed by bread & huge Lima bean in oil. After some pondering, I selected a hearty MEDALLION STEAK, desperate to revive my rapidly-weakening body.
What a good decision!
The thick cut was perfectly prepared to medium-well with hardly an indigestible vein of fat or sinew. I tried to be delicate eating, carefully slicing the carne into bite-size pieces, faintly recalling my grandmother (father’s mother) half-century scolding about eating too much at once.
Anyway, I thought I was being clever to not create large chunks, but did I make any difference? I couldn’t ingest it fast enough, swallowing masticated portions followed by large swallows of clean freshwater, “sin gas”. Not that I was short of cash, I was very glad they accepted my VISA card. I had an inkling I’d concern about my cholesterol, but figured my slim diet would allow me this one-time splurge. And it really wasn’t that expensive; the overall meal was extremely satisfying and this fine eatery certainly has my enthusiastic “iWheel of Approval!”
Good hearty food

We visited as part of a food tour and really enjoyed the decor, atmosphere and food. This is nothing fancy but it is good, steak was well cooked, salads fresh and wine plentiful. Staff weren’t the friendliest but maybe they are not fans of tour groups.
Great Meal in a Traditional Steak House

We tried Gran Parrilla on the recommendation of our flight attendant - great score. It had a traditional decor vibe and great service. We didn't have a reservation, so we waited about 30 minutes for a table and were able to enjoy a glass of wine during our wait. The portions are huge, as was our experience in most restaurants in Buenos Aires. We shared a ribeye (done to request); the salad and fries were large enough for four people, so we didn't finish those. We really enjoyed our meal; our favorite dinner during our three night stay.

Had a fun night here and the food was super filling, the waiters were professional and fun. It gets super busy so book or just wait a while with a glasss of vino :)
