Decent stay but in overcrowded place

The hotel is really nice & so is their breakfast. Rooms are well maintained & clean with friendly staff members. The only hitch is, it is located in a very overcrowded area which makes travel a little uncomfortable.
The staff is really friendly & cooperative. They supported me with a few hours of time extension as I had a late flight.
The breakfast served (though not many varieties) is also decent.
In all a decent stay for a short trip.

Good rooms, but lots of room for improvements

When our taxi arrived at the hotel I was shocked. It looked dodgy and shabby from the outside, the dug up pavement in front didn't help as you struggled through rubble to the tiny lobby and reception.
So we were thrilled to be taken to a surprisingly nice, clean and spacious room. There was a huge, comfortable king size bed, a safe and minibar, plenty of storage space, good lighting and lots of electric sockets, a desk, a flatscreen TV (with BBC World), a coffee table and chairs, and fairly tasteful décor. There was a separate sitting area (presumably a sofa bed to accommodate additional guests). There was a kettle, but after we used the initial Nescafe there was no replacement. When we enquired they tried to fob us off with some horrible extremely sweet milky coffee sachets. It transpired they had run out of Nescafe in the entire hotel, and housekeeping had never advised them. Both the TV and Wifi signals were bad and very temperamental, quite unreliable. The worst thing was the relentless street noise, even on the 4th floor. It went on through the night, disrupting sleep.
The bathroom was modern and clean, it even had a shower curtain (a rarity in India). The towels were big and fluffy, but the toiletries were in tiny little sachets or bottles, and the bath water was only lukewarm.
Staff generally were very nice and trying to please, but some were extremely inept and spoke very poor English. I blame a lack of training, but I'm not surprised seeing some incompetent management.
Breakfast was a disaster. There were bananas, and some white bread (but no toaster) and jam, plus upama and parathas, and eggs on request (after we questioned the staff). Coffee was disgusting, so sweet and milky - it transpired it was made without water, just with milk and loads of sugar.
Should we ever return to Varanasi I would stay elsewhere, although the rooms were quite nice. I just couldn't tolerate the noise, the poor breakfast, and other shortcomings.

Dirty, cold shower & dirty bedding!

Hotel is very dirty, we arrived after 20 hours of travelling. We were given the choice to choose our rooms but they were all pretty much the same, noise is horrendous from the beeping outside. The windows have large gaps in them which means flies come through. My wife had to have a cold shower as no hot water. The rooms feel damp because of air con & bedding was filthy - we asked for it to be changed. Breakfast / dinner was ok hence the two stars but not worth the stay. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. We left the next day.

Disappointing

First they could not have inventory and then asked me a room sharing wall with a saw mill. Yes you read it right, saw mill. Whole night there were loud noises. Next morning, they offered to change a room; and it was literally jump from the frying pan to fire. This room was under maintenance, full of smell of paint, no fridge, TV not working. Still I settled to have a peaceful night. However it was a roadside room and again noise of traffic, construction, tractors and what not.
And as I look back, I had paid for a delux room!
