Amritara Suryauday Haveli

Suryodaya Haveli is a great place to stay . Super location ( just beside Ghat ) unique view made this hotel so special . On top of it the people : starting from the driver who picked us from airport , to the senior most person at front desk , House keeping , restaurant were extremely nice and warm people . Their excellent way of conducting their respective work made our stay really nice . Restaurant good was excellent . ( Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner . I want to specially mention few names of hotel staff for their excellent behaviour and warmth . Mr Udayji at front desk as Manager , Sanjay who was our guide in the boat for evening Arati Darshan at Ghat . His way of narrating the place was superb. Few other names worth mentioning . Arvind , Kanhaiya, Shiva , Avishek , Pandey , Sandeep etc . A great overall experience.

The hotel is on Shivala Ghat which is 10 minutes walking distance from Assi Ghat - it is a beautiful property originally owned by the Nepal royal family and now restored with care into a charming boutique hotel. Access can be a challenge for aged or people needing walking assistance, the hotel staff helps with the transportation of the luggage from the car drop off point. We were here for 5 nights and loved every moment, Uday Ji (Manager) and the entire staff were the epitome of the word "hospitality", we felt like their personal guests. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated, furniture is old world and well maintained, WC and shower is very spacious with all amenities. The courtyard, terrace and balcony are beautiful spaces and the view of the Ganges is serene and beautiful. We stayed a long time on the terrace on a full moon night and it was magical. All your travel and local sight seeing needs can be handled by Uday Ji and Sanjay - all you need to do is ask! The food is a fair selection of cuisines and whatever we ate tasted very good, the complimentary breakfast had local and international flavors and tasted good. I saw that the food at this hotel has got some bad press in the past - I think feedback has been taken and implemented as we really appreciated the taste and quality of what we ate. The evening music was sublime - the ambience it created was magical - my request to all travelers - please acknowledge, clap and appreciate their work and speak to them - they are artists and appreciation is fuel. Overall you can't go wrong with staying here - our experience of Varanasi was heightened by this charming hotel which no modern hotel chain can match!

Me and my sister in law made an impromptu visit to Varanasi. We were lucky to get reservation at the hotel. It's situated at the ghat and view was out of the world. Staff was very friendly and were happy to help with all our queries. It was a bit of a walk to the main road but on first day itself we realised that electric autos were able to come closer to the hotel. It's quite close to the markets and most of the temples. Hotel arranged for the boat ride to see Ganga arti which was an experience in itself. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Varanasi , specially if you are on spiritual journey.

We had an amazing family trip to Varanasi and thanks to all the hotel staff why we could experience the traditional Varanasi (Kaashi) culture while still maintaining high standard of living. Special thanks to Mr Sanjay for doing all the plan and arrangements including puja, temple visits and shopping. Walking on the ghaat at night was most memorable one and the location of the hotel is perfect for doing that.

After a lot of planning was able to finally circle to this beautiful haveli just at the ghat. The approach road is surely not what you expect but then that's how the city is. The staff is very helpful but I feel not really upto speed and we found the service really slow for everything. Sanjay the guide was very helpful and the Chef and his team were quite accomdating. I would have expected better hospitality especially given the price surely so will surely look for other options too next time I am visiting.
