Most of the hotels today serve good food but more than the taste or choices it's the service that counts. My husband and I are both doctors, we dropped in one afternoon late at 3:00pm after a long day at work, tired; they were just closing their buffet lunch service, without hesitation they served us, special mention to mr.Sounthar who made sure we were not left wanting. The other staff too were very helpful,
young, all smiles, no fuss. We could see they too were tired, standing in attention through the duration of lunch service, yet they made us feel at home - not easy to come by that feeling of satisfaction and comfort. I will definitely recommend Novotel without hesitation

Our expectations that since it is a 5 star hotel with a brand name despite the high price we expected good service in this hotel Novotel OMR, Chennai but our expectations were shattered. Those who stay for 1 night may not have witnessed or experienced things which we experienced during our stay for 3 nights. First of all the reception staff were not courteous or guest friendly and they were so mean and showing attitude towards the guests. During check in there was no one to carry our bags to the room or to guide us to the room we took it all the way. We had to remind more than 3 times for room services. Secondly despite staying for 3 nights our request for a room in particular floors or pool view room was rejected and was not provided till the end though the rooms were vacant. The menu during breakfast was the same for all the 3 days and it was more or less a repetition. The hotel seems to work with a very limited staff. The facilities or amenities which they claim to be providing in their website were not fully available. When we particularly asked for the cycles, on day one a receptionist told us that the air need to be filled and on the second day they said it is under maintenance and only after a complaint was lodged with the Front office manager Suraj he brought a person to fill the air in the cycles. The receptionist Ms. Shiv was so rude that she asked us to use the other facilities instead of requesting for the cycles. The table tennis bats were torn and dirty and the archery board was torn and hanging at the entrance. overall there is a very poor maintenanance and none of the staff was interested to rectify the issues. Another receptionist Shanith was dodging to our questions and replied evasively that they have informed the higher management for filling air in the cycle tyres. Overall it was a very bitter experience and we were totally disappointed by their service and attitude. We realised that we must not judge a hotel by its name or 5 star tag which they carry and particularly this hotel does not deserve any appreciation or regard.
Improvements Needed to Justify Novotel Branding

We recently stayed at Novotel OMR. Not a good experience overall.
When we checked into the room the wash basin sink was blocked and the water was not draining. In addition to that, the health faucet was leaking. Even though we immediately called the front desk, the plumber came after almost 90 minutes. This was in spite of multiple calls to the front desk.
The sink had a lot of gunk inside which the plumber had to remove. The health faucet leak did not get fixed. We actually had to turn the tap off in the end.
The housekeeping staff should have checked all of this before the room was made ready for the guests. Not sure why this was missed.
Bathroom fixtures also need an update. You can see stain and rust on them.
Another flaw was in the breakfast buffet, where there was a lot of delay in refilling the food once it ran out.
Overall a disappointing experience. Hope the hotel can review and upgrade their facilities based on the above feedback.
