The Lotus Apartment Hotels Venkatraman Street

I went from US and stayed here for 4 days when I took my family for a family function at Chennai. One most striking thing I noticed here was all the residents I saw were NRIs! I took up on this hotel as this was highly recommended in a Tamil blog. Booked online (less than $ 40 a night including all taxes and a heavenly breakfast for 3) 20 days in advance (trip adviser via agoda.com). Called and confirmed a few days before. Very decent place and most staff were very courteous. Close to shopping, eating places and temples. We went with our car and driver. Parking is provided for your car inside the hotel basement but during night and during the day, it is road-side parking only. Please note: they do not provide accommodation for driver. Staff were very, very courteous (except for one stiff lady-there has to be an exception to the general rule, isn’t it?!); rooms were really decent with freezing AC for the hot Chennai with daily house-keeping service; Very typical US standard services; breakfast and the hospitality was worth more than $ 100 a night!!; variety of south Indian breakfast (7:30-10) was provided with fresh water melon juice, coffee, tea-you name it!. The dishes include 16-18 items every day. The restaurant manager was such a courteous gentleman who treated guests with utmost care. Room service food (up to 10 or 10:30 pm) was excellent (Rs. 15 for room delivery) Hot onion pakoda (big heap good enough for 3 people) is Rs. 100 and tea for two is again another hundred. My mom said it tasted excellent but a little expensive! But hey, it is Chennai! Overall. I really enjoyed my stay and I found my place to stay at Chennai in the future! A request to the management: Please don't change anything, keep up with the excellent standard BUT provide a room/space for drivers to stay the night. Thank you and looking forward to my future stay!

The location of the hotel is in a quiet neighborhood. Very close to the heart of the shopping center in chennai. The rooms are very clean and come with all amenities. Breakfast is a good spread with both south indian and conti options. Lunch can be availed too and there is a charge for packed lunches. In room dining menu has a good variety of options. Good hotel - will surely come back....

Very impressed… wonderful staff !! Stayed here for a month. Rooms are well spacious and comfortable. Right in the center of city. Nice view from balcony…Pleasant stay and good service… A must stay hotel !!

Good location & comfortable hotel with good & polite. Food is very tasty but little costly. All necessary amenities are available. Shopping streets are very close to hotel. Marina beach is 15 mins away.

I had been here last week. We had booked two standard rooms which were too tiny. They do not allow 2 people in a single room. I had my friend and her mother with me they were ready to share a single tiny room but the staff didn't allow them then we upgraded to suite room for them. The staff here is very rude and not accommodating at all. When we were chatting in the dining hall the old person/in-charge/manager asked us to sit outside saying he had to clean the table. We were out the whole day from Saturday night to Sunday morning, when I returned the room wasn't cleaned/serviced. Moreover, Shower in the room wasn't working. I will never visit this place again. The whole experience was disappointing.
