I arrived in Mcleod ganj to find my reserved hotel had been demolished. The owner of the demolition also owns Himalaya Queen. I was treated well by staff,given tea and access to wi fi, thanks. My room had a good view of Dalai Lamas temple,and was peaceful. I was granted a reasonable rate and stayed for 6 days. Bed is good.Wi fi was quite satisfactory,allowing streaming of videos and some downloading. Staff are professional. The brown paint everywhere is a bit depressing. Hot water is good,I did not care for shower over bath. Construction sites were dormant,mercifully. Early morning sun on my balcony was most enjoyable.
Checkout this hotel, only if not other place to stay...

- If you are in McLeodganj without a place to stay, then you should check this place. With my personal experience, I guess is that due to poor reviews, there are chances you might get a room. - As the other reviewers point out, the hotel is in a bad shape, and is in urgent need of renovation. - The managers looking after the property do not seem to have much say in important matters. As an example, I had negotiated with managers and finalized 2 rooms for a certain amount. However, when I reached there with my family, I was asked to pay 1000/- extra, as the owner chose to impose his rates, not honoring the decision of managers. - Charges are on a higher side, looking at the room conditions. - The only saving grace is the valley facing location.

Had the worst experience ever! Dirty linens, dirty toilet (looked like they haven't cleaned it in years), broken windows and on top of that, found a HUGE RAT in my room. Couldn't sleep the whole night and the receptionists wouldn't pick up the phone. And their excuse was "Sir puraani building hai, choohe to honge hi". Had the worst experience ever. Pathetic!

In Terse ,it was an absolute Torture. Sundown and the biggest spiders i could have imagined came out from Under the bed,No Curtains in the room.The Bathroom was cleaned perhaps 3 yers back the last time with no ventilation and sunlight coming in with a Zero power bulb lighting it. Horrible front desk Cerks who wouldnt listen to your complains and argue with you till you show them a picture of the spider and threten the Manager of writing this review. Also mind it if you order your food from outside they will charge you extra and will just bump it on your at the time of check out. The rooms stink with Moist damp old carpets and wall plaster is falling off....speel with Helmets on Mean and absolute horror to stay here. PLEASE AVOID

We stayed in this hotel for some nights. It is awful, dirty and bad management.Only the boy in the restaurant was ok and helpful. They only want to earn money and do nothing. Ask direct for the bill if you pay money. When we payed the bill we received 2 bills: one for the food plan and once for the rooms. But we don t have a food plan. I think it is because to pay a lower tax for them.
