The Sonnet
08, Block: DD. Sector-01 Salt Lake, Kolkata, West Bengal 700064
This is my very first review on Tripadvisor and I am happy to do this for The Sonnet. My wife and I stayed at the hotel for 13 nights recently and came away with a very pleasant experience, to say the least. The hotel's location is hard to beat, with City Center 1 a short walk away, with lots of shopping, eateries and street food close by. The area is good for morning walks along the several leafy avenues around the hotel and appeared generally safe till late hours of the evening. The hotel's manager Rony Leblond was very helpful in making the reservation, arranging an airport pick up and a smooth check out process. The club level room we had was clean and well supplied with basic necessities. The housekeeping staff took good care of us - the team of Sajal, Raju and Shankar was very responsive to any issues we had and took it upon themselves to resolve them at the earliest. The breakfast buffet was a major attraction for us at the hotel. The spread and quality of the food was above average. The same goes for the dinner buffet and lunches we had as well. The staff members who stood out were Yogmaya, Sangita, Mili and Khusbu had the extra attention and care behind their service. Mangal at the front desk/concierge was simply outstanding. He was always around for a quick tip, any help we needed and a smile. There is ample parking at the hotel for guests and any pick ups or drop offs. The only thing that stood out as an eyesore - were the slums on the compound. Sadly the slums are built on government land, and the several hotels around seemed to have no control over this unfortunate situation. We are totally impressed with The Sonnet and will certainly be back next year for our stay in Kolkata! Kudos again to the staff and management team.
